GRACELAND
Welcome to “Camp” Graceland!
We are going to be studying many people in the Old and New Testament this coming year, and how they survived their situation in life and learned about God's love. We are doing it in a "camp" or wilderness setting, since that seems to fit what we are going to be studying - Survivors.
We want the children to learn of the sacrifices and strength of many courageous people in the Bible - with an emphasis on King David, and we want to have these insights become part of their hearts. That is why we are asking for the children to memorize a verse of Scripture each week. We believe that if they begin hiding the Word of God in their hearts at this young age, it will stay with them the rest of their lives.
One of the hightlignts each Sunday is a vist from "Billwinkle" - a moose with a heart for learning things of God. This year the students will also be meeting his long time friend (and protaganist) - Squirrel. When the children arrive at Graceland the leaders will be there to listen to them share about their previous week, and to listen to their memorized Bible verse. There will be plenty of time to do games and activities, learn about the Bible and God, and build relationships wiht each other.
It is also a priority of the leaders to become a trusted friend ot these children. We hope to model Jesus for the children - by caring for each other as we live out our everyday lives. We take our responsibility seriously to teach your children about God and with a humble spirit.
